Gingerbread Fun Run 1K – A Fun Run for Kids of All Abilities

Saturday, November 18 from 9 am–noon
All Ages

Get ready to run, run as fast as you can, Austin. Kick off the holiday season with a special Gingerbread Fun Run for kids—it’s almost 1K! Your task: Go as fast as you can while chasing Thinkery’s festive Gingerbread Man around Mueller Lake Park across from Thinkery. Enjoy seasonal hands-on activities for the entire family before and after the run in Mueller Park—and inside the museum, of course!

Variety is teaming up with Thinkery to ensure this Fun Run is open and accessible to kids of all abilities. The mostly paved and mostly flat route around Mueller Lake is wheelchair- and walker-accessible, with one unpaved 30-foot section covered in decomposed granite.

Sponsored by Google Fiber.

Presented in partnership with Variety – the Children’s Charity of Texas.

FAQ

Can I exchange my ticket or get a refund?

The deadline for registration is November 16, 2017. All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Adjustments to your list of participants is not allowed after submitting your registration.

Who can accompany my child on the route?

A limit of one adult per registered child may accompany for free. Additionally, children ages 0–23 may accompany for free. Registration is required for all individuals planning to be on the route, including adults or children ages 0–23 months. Museum entrance and registration benefits (t-shirt, swag bag, running bib, running medal) are not provided to adults or children ages 0–23 months. Spectators are welcome to enjoy the hands-on activities at the finish line for free.

My child is old enough to run alone. Do I have to run with them?

No, you do not have to run with your child. The course is less than 1K (about one half-mile) and we will have volunteers along the course. If you feel your child is old enough and able to run the course without you, you may meet them at the finish line.

Can I bring my stroller?

Yes, strollers are welcome on the Fun Run course! Registration is required for all individuals planning to be on the Fun Run route, including accompanying adults and children ages 0–23 months in strollers. We ask that those with strollers line up at the back of the wave of runners. For safety reasons, dogs, wagons, bikes, skates and rollerblades are NOT allowed on the course.

Can my child ride a bike, skate, rollerblade, etc.?

For safety reasons, dogs, wagons, bikes, skates and rollerblades are NOT allowed on the Fun Run course. Strollers, wheelchairs and walkers are permitted on the Fun Run route.
