Francis "Toby" Christian Memorial Donation – Born March 8, 1921 "4 miles out" from Bainbridge, GA, to parents Ruth and N. A. Betts, and passed away January 30, 2010.

Eldest of 5 siblings, she was a great friend to many. Cooking was one of her favorite pastimes as well as reading, gardening, playing bridge and bowling.

Toby met her husband, Vernon Christian, in Alabama where he was stationed before WWII. After a whirlwind romance, they married before he went overseas. Vernon, an Army Air Corpsman flew on many missions before his plane crashed in Romania where he became a POW. Upon his release they moved to Dallas and raised their children Susan and Alan Christian.

They were living the American dream until Vernon was injured in a car wreck that left him disabled. As sole breadwinner Toby began a career at Collins Radio which later became Rockwell until her retirement.

She was the ultimate caregiver for Vernon until his death after 51 years of marriage.

Survivors include children, Susan Christian Geissinger, Alan and wife Kathy Christian; grandchildren, Christian Broome, Zach and wife Lori Hotchkiss; great grandchildren, Violet, Jaylen and Jaxton; sister, Pat Dean Morrison and her husband Tom; nieces, Alicia Dean, Karen Hewell, Traci Macklin, Cindy Reiher; and many loving great nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Sammons Cancer Center, the kind nurses with Vitas Hospice, and Susan Hill for their wonderful care during her illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Variety the Children's Charity of Texas.

Toby's husband and father-in-law were both members of Variety. Toby was active, but during a period of time in which women were not allowed to hold a "membership" within the Variety Club. Today, her son and daughter-in-law are carrying on the tradition of involved with Variety as both are active members.
